A short autobiography of me, by me:
Some where in my early childhood I found a lot of meaning in music and it has always stayed with me. I can remember originally wanting to be an on air personality, I thought it would be fun to play records on the radio. Eventually, years later in college I found that this was not really as fun as it sounded. I started my DJ career at the ripe age of 12, playing parties with my collection of 45’s and some old stereo equipment my dad would lend me. In the mid 70’s I was able to land a gig at the “Little Feet” Teen Disco in Northern VA. Later, I had the great fortune of living in Southeast Asia in my final years of High School and even managed to land a steady gig at “The Tower Disco” circa 1981 in Jakarta, Indonesia. I only mention this because it was truly a unique time in my life. Forget records, everything was on cassette tapes because they were easy to bootleg, it was big business and they were cheap and easy to get.
II think I covered most every Genre of music throughout those early years. In Richmond VA, while at college, I did an alternative show at the radio station at VCU. A year later I found my way into a little biker bar called “Adels” playing Rock and Roll tunes.
Eventually I moved to Maryland and started in some real clubs. There, my passion for high energy dance music took over. Some friends (Fast Eddie and DJ K) taught me the basics of beat mixing. I landed a gig at Solomons Pier in Solomons, MD in 1987. That turned into an 8 year stint. From there I played in a few other clubs and eventually hung my DJ hat up to concentrate on family and a making a better life.
It would be another 10 years before I picked that hat back up. Over those years I expanded my music tastes and never lost my passion. Today I am proud to be able to mix and produce music as my time allows. Recently I have returned to club Djing and am looking forward to expanding my Portfolio.
